Babette Grünwald
Babette Grünwald is an Art teacher at West Albany High School, as well as a studio artist, working in textiles, encaustic (pigmented bee's wax), acrylics, and mixed media.
She was born in Paris, France and grew up in Switzerland. After getting married, she moved to California, then Mexico, New York, Washington and in 2004, relocated to Philomath, Oregon with her husband and three daughters.
After a career in agricultural research and farm management, she chose to pursue her passion in art, and went back to graduate school to get a Masters of Fine Arts at the University of Oregon in 2007. In order to supplement her income as an artist, she started subbing in the local high school and really enjoyed it. She then worked for 4 years as a German teacher at Philomath High School. She finished a Master of Arts in Teaching at Western Oregon University in 2012 and is endorsed in Art, German, French, Spanish and CTE. She started teaching at West Albany High School in 2014.
Please go to BabetteStudio.com for more information on her artwork.
Babette is also part of an artist group called Philomath Open Studios. They open their studios for an Art Tour and Sale the last 2 weekends of October.
